Privacy Policy
Last Updated: May 12, 2025
Introduction
Welcome to Ummah Hub. YAM SOFTWARE & VISUALS LLC ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information in relation to our mobile application "Ummah Hub" (the "App") and our website www.ummahhubusa.com (the "Site").
Your privacy is important to us. We only collect information necessary to provide the App's features and **only when you grant us explicit permission** through your device's operating system settings or when you voluntarily provide it for account creation.
By using our App or Site, you agree to the handling of information as described in this policy.
Information We Handle
Based on the permissions you grant and features you use, we may handle the following:
- Account Information: If you choose to create an account (directly, via Google Sign-In, or Apple Sign-In when available), we use Firebase Authentication to manage this. This process involves handling the email address, name associated with your chosen sign-in method, and an anonymous User ID (UID) generated by Firebase. This information is used solely for authentication, enabling account-specific features (like saving favorites), and associating your data (like saved preferences) with your account. We do not access other details from your Google or Apple accounts. When using Google Sign-In, your interaction is also subject to the Google Privacy Policy. When using Apple Sign-In, your interaction is also subject to Apple's Privacy Policy. Anonymous usage of core features does not require this information.
- User-Saved Content & Preferences: If you create an account and use features like saving favorite places or events, this information (e.g., a list of IDs for your saved places/events) is linked to your User ID to allow you to access and manage these preferences within the App.
- Location Information (With Permission): If you grant location permission, we use this information **only while you are actively using specific features** to provide results based on your current location, such as nearby Places (Masjids, Halal Food, etc.), calculating Prayer Times, and determining the Qibla direction. This is essential for these features to function correctly. We do not build a history of your location or store your precise location data long-term in your user profile.
- Calendar Access (Write-Only, With Permission): If you grant calendar permission, the App can add events you select to your device's primary calendar (e.g., iPhone Calendar via EventKit). This permission is **write-only**; the App **does not read, access, or store any existing information** from your calendar.
- Notification Permission (With Permission): If you grant notification permission, we may send notifications related to Prayer Times or reminders for events you have saved within the App. You control these permissions via your device settings.
-
Technical, Usage & Diagnostic Information: To maintain and improve the App, our underlying infrastructure and service providers (like Google Firebase for hosting, authentication, database, analytics, crash reporting, and performance monitoring) may automatically process some technical information. This can include:
- Product Interaction details (e.g., general usage patterns, features used, screen views, taps).
- Device Information (e.g., device type, operating system version).
- Identifiers (e.g., anonymous or pseudonymous device identifiers like Firebase Instance ID for analytics and crash reporting).
- Diagnostics Data (e.g., crash reports including the state of the app at the time of a crash, and performance data like app launch time and responsiveness).
- Potentially IP addresses logged by servers for security and operational purposes.
- Direct Communications: Information you provide when contacting us (e.g., via the contact page or email for feedback, support, or business inquiries).
How We Use Information
The information handled is used solely to:
- Operate and maintain the Ummah Hub App and Site.
- Provide the core features you use (Places, Events, Prayer Times, Qibla, Saved Favorites/Events).
- Authenticate your account and manage account-specific features if you create one.
- Add events to your device's calendar or manage them within the app's event features when you request it.
- Send notifications you have permitted.
- Respond to your direct communications (support, feedback, business inquiries).
- Improve our service through the analysis of technical, usage, and diagnostic data (as described above).
Information Sharing: Strictly Limited
We **do not sell your personal information** to any third parties. We **do not share** your personal information with third parties, except in the limited circumstances necessary to provide the service:
- With Essential Service Providers: We use third-party services like Google Firebase for essential backend functions (hosting, database via Firestore, authentication via Firebase Auth, analytics, crash reporting, and performance monitoring). We also use Google/Apple for their respective Sign-In functionalities if you choose them. These providers process data only as necessary to perform their services for us and are bound by their own privacy policies. We only share the minimum information required for these services to function. Please review relevant policies like the Google Privacy Policy and Apple's Privacy Policy.
- For Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or if we have a good faith belief that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of YAM SOFTWARE & VISUALS LLC, our users, or the public.
- Business Changes (Hypothetical): We currently have no plans to sell, merge, or transfer our company or assets. However, if such a significant change were to happen in the distant future, user information might be among the assets transferred. In such a hypothetical event, we would provide notice (e.g., via the app or website) and ensure any acquiring party respects the commitments made in this Privacy Policy, or provide you with choices regarding your information.
Data Security
We prioritize the security of the limited information we handle. We rely on reputable service providers like Firebase that implement industry-standard security measures. However, no electronic storage or transmission method is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Privacy Rights (California Residents - CCPA)
As we operate with users primarily in California, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA). These include the right to know what personal information (like your account email and name, if provided) we handle, the right to request deletion of that information, and the right to correct inaccurate information. You also have the right to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. Since we do not sell or share personal information (as defined by CCPA beyond essential service providers), opt-out rights related to selling/sharing are not applicable. To exercise your rights, please contact us using the methods below.
Children's Privacy
Ummah Hub is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. If you believe we may have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately so we can delete it.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the new policy on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date, and potentially through an in-app notice.
